C1800's rare African Sanza steel toothed instrument with rattle inside. Measures approximately 10" x 5". This is a rare, early choice example. From a prominent estate music box collection. This is the first use of the tuned tooth, prior to the music box.  Rare and period. Outstanding patina, hand wrought teeth and hand-carved. A rare example for the antique instrument and/or African collector. Rare early example!
