Description
This is a lot of five (5) uncirculated 1964 Irish Pennies or ‘Pingin’ (KM# 11). The obverse of this Gaelic “Eire” or Ireland coin shows an Irish harp, with the reverse showing a hen with chicks. Prior to 1968 this predecimal penny was the third smallest denomination valued at 1/12th
of a shilling or 1/240
th
of a pound. The d in “1d” (1-penny) is abbreviated from the Roman
d
enarius. These nearly 60-year-old coins have various degrees of natural toning showing they have never been cleaned.
Gallery includes pictures taken at slightly different angles and lighting to provide accurate representation of condition.
