Offered is the 2010 Ireland 15 Euro silver proof coin, Irish Hunter Horse, the first issue in a series featuring Animals of Irish Coinage. Each coin in the series pays tribute to an original Percy Metcalfe design used in the first coins issued by the Irish Free State in 1928.
The coin’s design was reworked for the issue (with the addition of an offspring [a tribute to the Euro]) by Emmet Mullins. The obverse of the coin depicts the 14 string Irish Harp, the traditional numismatic element used since 1928. The simple and clean designs of the coins in the series are in keeping with the very typical approach Irish coins have exhibited throughout the century.
Minted by the Royal Dutch Mint in 15,000 pieces.
