    Offered is the 2011 Ireland 10 Euro silver proof coin St. Brendan the Navigator. This coin celebrates the sea voyages of Saint Brendan (born 484). Brendan was renowned for his legendary journey into the Atlantic searching for the Isle of the Blessed, as described in the

    The obverse shows Brendan and crew in the sailing vessel above the rolling waves. Two elements from the book, a whale and a volcano, are shown in the background. Coin design by Michael Guilfoyle. The reverse of the coin has the traditional Irish numismatic icon, the Irish Harp. Outstandingly charming design. Nicely produced. One of their best.
