Featuring King George IV Bust and the reverse featuring
a crowned Irish Harp.
The coins have been made in Birmingham UK in 2001, using old coining techniques, near the site of Matthew Boulton’s Soho Mint.
Some of these pattern pieces are featured in ‘UNUSUAL WORLD COINS’ catalogue by Colin Bruce, Krause Publications.
These crownsized Patina were issued to show what Irish crowns of William IV might have looked like, had they actually been issued. On the obverse you have the bust of William IV just like it looks on the 1831 British crown. The reverse has a crowned Irish Harp, they are retro-dated 1830 so as not confuse collectors. They are beautiful crownsized pieces in Prooflike condition. The workmanship is outstanding especially on the bust of William IV. A pattern crown of 1831 will cost you £10,000-£20,000.
Great addition to World coin collection.
