    The Disney Gallery New Orleans Square Disneyland Commemorative 1987 Grand Opening Art Print Hand Signed With A Mickey Mouse Drawing by Renowned Disney Artist John Hench This Is A Very Unique Disneyland History Collectable In Excellent Condition!
    The Disney Gallery at New Orleans Square opened in 1987 and closed its doors in 2007. It was the only location in the entire park that was listed as both an attraction and a merchandise location on the Park’s Map. The Cast Members who worked the location were from the Disneyland Merchandise division, but were specially trained to run the Gallery as a Disney Museum. Cast Members were encouraged to give guests free tours of the Gallery, informing visitors of the facility’s rich history and provide information about the current exhibtion.
    This 1987 Grand Opening Disney Gallery Commemorative Art Print is not only Signed by John Hench but, he added a cute Drawing of Mickey Mouse! This special piece of art Measures 38"tall x 21”wide
    We have had this John Hench Signed The Disney Gallery - New Orleans Square Commemorative Grand Opening Art Print since 1987. This Disney Gallery Art Print has been stored “flat” and has never been rolled up. The image is in excellent condition for being 32+ YEARS OLD! The ebay winning bidder will have the choice of having this fine piece mailed either “Rolled” in a sturdy mailing tube for , or “Flat” packaged safely for 0. In order for it to be mailed “Flat”, the buyer must make notification prior to shipping.
    John Hench attended the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, along with the San Francisco California School of Fine Arts and the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. In 1939, he joined Disney at the old Hyperion Studios as a sketch artist in the story department working on Fantasia. Over his early career, he moved from “story” to “background” to “layout” and then on to the “special effects” department where his special effects work on "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" won an Oscar in 1954.
    That same year, John Hench left the Studio to work at what is today known as Walt Disney Imagineering, where his first assignment was to design attractions for the original Tomorrowland in Disneyland. Later in 1960, John worked closely with Walt Disney in developing the pageantry, opening and closing ceremonies for the VII Winter Olympic Games at Squaw Valley, as well as attractions for the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. He later helped master plan Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland and develop ideas for theme parks, including Disney’s California Adventure, Animal Kingdom, and Tokyo Disneyland.
    John Hench was also Mickey Mouse’s official corporate portrait artist, having painted Mickey’s portrait for the 25th (1953), 50th (1978), 60th (1988), 70th (1998), and 75th (2003) birthdays. In 1999, John Hench celebdrated his 60th year working with the company. John Hench died February 5, 2004, in Burbank. As an Eternal Flame-Bearer and Senior Vice President of Walt Disney Imagineering, John Hench carried on Walt’s ideals and standards.
