Year 2000 Irish Copper 2 pence.   A Wholesale Lot of 20 coins, all Brilliant Red Uncirculated.
These coins were regularly issued most years, from 1971 thru 2000.  Following the year 2000, Ireland converted to the Euro.  The design follows the theme of the Irish coin contest of 1927, hosted by W.B. Yeats.  An Irish harp is on the obverse, and a stylized Celtic Bird forms the reverse.  The coins are about the size of an American Susan B. Anthony or Presidential Dollar.
These coins were never in circulation, but were purchased from the Central Bank of Ireland in plastic bags, inside a larger cloth bag, during the year 2000.  They have been carefully transferred to inert hard plastic tubes, to preserve the brilliant red surfaces from handling and tarnishing.
